The penetration of a superconducting current from a superconductor into a half-metallic ferromagnet is usually forbidden. Resonances in the conductance spectra of superconductor/half-metal heterostructures suggest this restriction is lifted by the occurrence of unconventional equal-spin Andreev reflection.

Despite their name, the bulk electrical conductivity of most topological insulators is relatively high, masking many of the important characteristics of its protected, surface conducting states. Counter-doping reduces the bulk conductivity of Bi2Se3 significantly, allowing these surface states and their properties to be clearly identified.

The proximity effect enables the injection of Cooper pairs from a superconductor into a normal metal, but they usually do not travel far into the metal. A study of the propagation of Cooper pairs from irregularly shaped superconducting islands on a metal film finds that they can travel further than expected for certain island geometries.

Researchers have discovered a new nanometer-scale atomic structure in solid metallic materials known as metallic glasses, filling a gap in understanding of this atomic structure.

Glasses include all solid materials that have a non-crystalline atomic structure. They lack a regular geometric arrangement of atoms over long distances. “The fundamental nature of a glass structure is that the organization of the atoms is disorderedajumbled up like differently sized marbles in a jar, rather than eggs in an egg carton,” says Paul Voyles, a University of Wisconsin-Madison associate professor of materials science and engineering and principal investigator on the research.

The sleek and compact NX1000 will be available in June in white, black and pink at an MSRP of $699.99.

“With the expansion of the NX family, Samsung reinforces its commitment to connected creativity. Photography, at its core, is as much about sharing a special moment, as it is about capturing a stunning image and the new NX Series delivers both without compromise,” said Reid Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Digital Imaging, Samsung Electronics America. “Whether for professionals emailing photos on assignment, or a family sharing a truly unique memory, there is an NX Series camera ready to deliver.”

Channeling Samsung’s premium NX image quality, the NX1000, NX210 and NX20 cameras all feature a stunning design and a professional-grade 20.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. Ensuring the cameras benefit from Samsung’s ecosystem of imaging products, they are also compatible with Samsung’s unique i-Function 2.0 system. This innovative system enables users to control camera settings using the lens only, without having to take focus off the subject. New i-Function features include a digital crop and zoom, which allows users to focus on the most important parts of an image and crop away distracting background elements, plus the ability to add custom functions.

Shoot SMART with Samsung NX
Coupled with the latest SMART features, the integration of Wi-Fi in the new NX models enables users to instantly upload images and video to social networking sites like Facebook, Picasa, Photobucket and YouTube, to the cloud with Microsoft® Sky Drive®, or even email them directly from the camera at the touch of a button.

Further extending the benefits of Samsung’s SMART features, the NX20, NX210 and NX1000 are compatible with Samsung’s Remote Viewfinder app, which when loaded from Google Play (formerly the Android Marketplace) onto a supported GALAXY smartphone or tablet, allows users to control settings and even take the picture from up to 30 feet away. With Samsung’s MobileLink app, users can easily transfer and display images on Samsung smartphones, tablets, or Smart TVs – turning a variety of popular devices into instant photo frames.

In addition, AllShare and the TV Link application let the new NX models connect directly to a DLNA-compatible TV to show off those amazing images on the big screen, while PC Backup can store photos on a PC without fumbling with cables.

All-new, Extremely Approachable: The NX1000
As an introduction to CSC photography, the NX1000 combines the imaging power of a professional camera with the portability of a point-and-shoot camera. The NX1000 boasts an eye-catching design and compact form-factor suitable for a small bag and a night out on the town. Bundled with an all-purpose 20-50mm lens and external flash, the NX1000 offers shutterbugs a versatile system that can help improve their photography skills, while also capturing high-quality images.

The Samsung NX1000 features a large, bright 3.0-inch LCD screen for composing images and 1080p HD video, and technologies like Smart Auto 2.0 take the guess work out of photo-taking. A dedicated Smart Link Hot Key on the top of the camera makes sharing photos via Wi-Fi as easy as pressing a button for instant sharing.

Versatile and Powerful: The NX210

Championing the successes of its predecessor, the NX200, Samsung’s NX210 camera incorporates a brilliant, 3.0-inch AMOLED screen for viewing and composing in any light – indoors or out, as well as an all-metal premium-quality body for added durability.

The new NX210 also boasts high speed capture with a 1/8000 shutter and continuous shooting capabilities up to 8 frames per second, ensuring no moment is missed. With features like Smart Panel, the NX210 brings versatility to the forefront and empowers users to push their photographic limits.

Pro-grade Performance: The NX20

Sporting a form factor similar to a DSLR camera, yet much more compact, the Samsung NX20 is a compelling photo companion for enthusiasts and professional-level photographers looking for portability. At a fraction of the size and weight of DSLR cameras, the NX20 offers comfortable ergonomics and a convenient 3.0-inch swivel Super AMOLED screen for composing in a variety of conditions and at any angle. Additionally, the NX20 incorporates an SVGA Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) for framing and composing images. The EVF also includes a proximity sensor to detect when a user is away from the viewing area and shuts the screen off to conserve battery life.

Fitting for more advanced users, the NX20 touts a lightning-quick shutter speed, allowing users to capture images at up to 1/8000 of a second. Continuous shooting also adds to the camera’s photo prowess, as the NX20 can shoot up to 8 frames per second. Lastly, an electronic level feature helps compose images and allows users to perfectly center and adjust a tripod-mounted or handheld shot.

Creative Control at Your Fingertips
Creating artistic expressions with photography is now available for all users with minimal effort. Samsung’s Smart Auto setting analyzes, identifies and automatically selects the most appropriate of its scene modes to provide users with optimal results. For more information on the new NX1000, NX210 and NX20 as well as Samsung’s full line of cameras, please visit www.samsung.com.

Samsung has completely refreshed its NX series with a range of Wi-Fi-connected cameras, the NX20, NX210 and NX1000. The NX20 and NX210 replace the NX10 and NX200, while the NX1000 broadens the range with a less expensive, entry-level option. All three cameras are built around the company’s 20MP sensor, can shoot at up to 8fps and capture Full HD 1080p24 movies. The NX20 features a high-res SVGA electronic viewfinder and swivel, ‘Clear’ AMOLED screen with no air gap between the display panel and the protective glass, for improved reflection resistance. The NX210 has the same (non-Clear) AMOLED screen as its predecessor, while the NX1000 has a VGA display.

All three cameras offer an interesting HD movie mode that shoots a super-wide 2.35:1 aspect ratio (the aspect ratio that many pre-1970 movies were projected in), by shooting Full HD cropped down to 1920 x 810 pixels. It shoots this Cinema movie mode at the equally cinematic 24fps.

Capture, connect and share with a Samsung SMART CAMERA

Share life in perfect detail with the NX1000, NX20 and NX210 – the world’s first SMART compact system cameras with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity

BEIJING, China – April 19, 2012 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies is breaking new ground with its award-winning NX series with three new compact system cameras (CSC) that pioneer built-in Wi-Fi connectivity: the NX1000, NX210 and NX20. Now professional quality images can be easily captured, shared and stored straight from your camera – wherever you are in the world.

Introducing the NX1000, NX210 and NX20

The innovative additions to Samsung’s NX range represent the future in CSC technology: SMART cameras with in-built Wi-Fi technology that allow users to connect to wireless networks without any additional cards or devices. Full Wi-Fi connectivity is complemented by an impressive range of features, continuing the heritage of innovation that the NX series has been consistently recognized for since the launch of the NX10 in 2010.

As standard, all three NX models feature a 20.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, developed in-house by Samsung to give high quality images in rich color and detail. They are also fully compatible with the NX series’ unique i-Function system, enabling users to control parameters using the lens itself, adjusting the image without ever having to move off target. With Samsung’s range of nine lenses and professional standard accessories, the NX eco-system ensures that all imaging ambitions can be realised, whatever the user’s photographic speciality or interest.

Enhancing Samsung’s 2012 SMART CAMERA ecosystem, these latest additions to the NX range have been designed to satisfy the ambitions of users of all abilities, whether an experienced professional or someone just looking to trade-up from their point-and-shoot.

The NX1000 is highly portable and its eye-catching compact design makes it as useable as it is attractive. Available in stunning White, classic Black or eye-catching Pink it houses a feature-rich range of specs, with technology such as Smart Auto 2.0 and the Smart Link Hot Key, making it simpler than ever to shoot and share great images instantly.

The NX210 follows the NX’s design heritage, with a premium metallic finish. Like its predecessor the NX200, the NX210 also offers a 3.0” AMOLED display for viewing images and Full HD movies in brilliant resolution. With easy access to Wi-Fi functions, the NX210 allows quick sharing with friends and family, whilst with Samsung Mobile Link users can show off their best images on phones and tablets, or on the big screen with TV Link connecting the NX210 wirelessly to internet-enabled TVs.

The NX20 is the perfect match for enthusiast amateur or professional photographers looking for a highly portable camera that gives the professional look and feel of a DSLR but at a fraction of the size and weight, with the addition of an ergonomic grip to fit comfortably into the hand. Delivering impressive speed with its 1/8000s Fast Shutter, breath-taking images are shown on its clear 3.0” clear AMOLED swivel display, increasing visibility by approximately 20%. The NX20 also incorporates a range of functions and manual controls in order to deliver pro-standard pictures every time, including SVGA EVF so users can frame images like a professional.

In-Built Wi-Fi for simple sharing and saving

With Samsung’s latest SMART features, users can share pictures at the touch of a button, uploading to social networks including Facebook and Picasa, or emailing them to friends and family – all straight from their new NX camera. The cameras also offer further options for capturing and displaying images via other devices, including the ability to link to a Samsung smartphone and use as a remote viewfinder, and – with the Samsung Mobile Link function – to display images on devices such as tablets or internet-enabled TV.

Creative control at the touch of a button

Pictures shared on the spur of the moment are no longer restricted to simply shooting and sending – with the creative features of the new NX cameras, Facebook pictures can be artistic without ever going near a computer. The ten Smart Filters and added Selective Color function, for example, mean that users can adjust the look and feel of shots as they take them. In addition, all three cameras also feature Panorama and 3D Panorama, allowing the whole story to be told in one complete picture. With the Smart Panel featured on all the new models, settings and features can be easily accessed and applied, making creative photography easier than ever.

Mr. Myoung Sup Han, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics, commented: “The three new additions to the NX range mark an evolution in Samsung’s SMART CAMERA offering, demonstrating our understanding that digital imaging is about sharing the best moments with family and friends, and not only about taking great pictures. Samsung is paving the way, introducing the world’s first SMART Compact-System-Cameras for professional standard images that are worth sharing.”

“With the inclusion of in-built Wi-Fi connectivity, our customers can now share pictures and videos straight from their NX camera. More importantly, however, the NX camera’s wireless connectivity does not mean sacrificing fantastic image quality – you can now have the best of both at your fingertips. This dedication to innovation will make Samsung a leader in the SMART CAMERA market.”

Samsung ST76

The new Samsung ST76 and ST66 deliver flawless images from a stylish body

Las Vegas – Jan 9, 2012 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, announced today the launch of its latest ST range compact cameras: the 16.1 Megapixel ST76 and ST66. Beautifully-styled yet powerful, the range boasts sleek, modern designs that deliver flawless images, while a host of fun features help inject maximum creativity into everyday shots.

The elegant new brushed-metal designs of the ST76 and ST66 give the range a classic, premium look that conveys a refined sense of style. All ST devices are compact enough to fit into any pocket and be taken anywhere to capture spontaneous moments, whether at the club, the beach or just spending time with friends. Each model is available in a range of vibrant and trendy colors to suit every personality with five different color versions of the ST76 and ST66.

Aided by the optical image stabilization available on the ST76, clear and steady images can now be achieved by any photographer, regardless of experience. Even when the light begins to dim, there is no reason to slow down. The F/2.5, 25mm wide angle bright lens available on both models is ideal for low-light shooting, thanks to its superior ability to capture light and therefore clear shots in the dark. The 5x optical zoom on each model helps ensure that detail isn’t lost when zooming in for a close-up. All captured on a 16 Megapixel CCD sensor, the ST range means that brilliantly clear images can be taken anywhere and in style.

Both the ST76 and ST66 include 720p HD Movie Recording at 30fps, so users can capture a priceless scene in quality that they will be proud to share later with friends and family.

“The ST range has always focused on bringing consumers the best in photography, encapsulated in a camera that’s not only easy to carry everywhere, but is stylish enough for you to be proud of, reflecting your own personal style,” commented Mr. Myoung Sup Han, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics. “With our new metallic designs and colors, we have continued in this commitment to combine superior imaging quality, cutting-edge aesthetics and features such as optical image stabilization and Live Panoramas to produce those outstanding results.”

Live Panorama to get everyone in the shot!

Live Panorama, featured on each of the new ST models, allows users the ability to capture even more of the action, facilitating wide panoramic shots, from scenic mountain peaks to large groups of friends. The Live Panorama feature allows the easy capture of large scenes by simply holding down the shutter button and sweeping the camera across the scene. Users can even preview the whole scene they’ve just captured via the LCD screen.

Smart Auto for the best possible picture

Smart Auto 2.0, available on all the new models in the ST series, identifies and automatically selects the most appropriate of its scene modes to provide users with the best possible result every time. From a fireworks display to a dimly-lit party, Smart Auto 2.0,’s scene detection technology identifies the shooting conditions and automatically tailors the settings to help achieve standout results.

Fun features to make your world come to life

Want to turn a portrait into an old film still, or put a friend’s face on a billboard? With the Magic Frame feature, it’s easy to create clever, poster-like images by selecting one of the built-in background templates, such as Wall Art, Full Moon, Magazine or Holiday. Point the camera at your subject, align it within the on-screen template and capture the fun.

For when one picture just isn’t enough, the Picture-in-Picture feature lets users insert one image into another — take one background shot, select the area to erase and then frame up your second shot in the space left behind. This can be anything from a friend’s face appearing in the middle of a plate to inserting a profile picture onto Mount Rushmore!

Finally, users can also bend, stretch, and warp pictures of their friends and family for big laughs — with the Funny Face feature users can simply press the 5-direction key to enlarge heads or noses, or create hilarious distortions. And when the camera is moved, Face Tracking preserves the funny looks.

Visit Samsung’s booth to experience this future technology firsthand. Samsung’s product line will be displayed January 10-13 at booth #12004 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Full details, video content and product images are available at the Samsung microsite at: www.samsungces.com. The press conference will also be streamed live from: www.samsungces.com or www.global.samsungtomorrow.com.

Premium Style Meets Professional Performance with the Samsung NX200 Compact System Camera

Capture memorable images in the best picture quality, with the Samsung NX200

IFA – BERLIN, Germany – September 1, 2011 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced the launch of the NX200 compact system camera. The NX200 delivers professional image quality with ease of use that lets users unleash their creativity. The NX200 includes a 20.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and other premium features such as high-speed continuous shooting (7fps (max) with 100ms Advanced Auto Focus), wide range ISO (100-12,800), Full HD movie recording, and Samsung’s unique i-Function lens. With exceptional performance and functionality built into a compact metallic form factor in the NX200, users no longer have to trade off camera style for image quality.

The NX200 is the perfect combination of design and professional performance, delivering DSLR image quality in a camera that is compact and easy to use. The camera incorporates a 20.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor developed in-house by Samsung, ensuring image quality that highlights even the smallest detail and puts performance at the fingertips of all photographers. To allow for high-speed continuous shooting, the NX200 features 100ms Advanced AF. Thanks to the fast start-up time and seven fps continuous shooting, it’s the perfect way to capture that split-second action in an instant. Additionally, users will never miss a moment, with the ability to move from shot to shot in only 400ms.

The camera’s wide range ISO (100-12800, covering seven stops) gives life-like color and sharp details, even in dark environments or when capturing still images of moving objects.

To capture movement on video, the NX200 also features 1920×1080/30p (H.264) HD movie recording for exciting and vivid video with Stereo Sound. All this is incorporated into a compact and sleek body with a premium metal design, light enough to be carried in a jacket pocket and stylish enough that anyone will be proud to be seen with this camera.

The NX200 also enables state-of-the-art usability through Samsung’s i-Function 2.0 lenses, which allow users to control a range of parameters from the lens without having to take their eye off the shot. The NX200 is fully compatible with the wide range of nine different i-Function lenses which enable toggling between shutter speed, aperture, exposure value (EV), white balance (WB), and ISO quickly and easily through the button and ring on the lens. With the upgraded i-Function 2.0 on the NX200, users can also control six different Smart Filters and the intelli-Zoom function from the lens while in Lens Priority Mode. New lenses for the i-Function system include 18-200mm, 16mm, 60mm and 85mm focal lengths.

“With the NX line, we have pioneered the compact system camera to allow any user to get the results that they’ve always wanted from their pictures without complicated controls or the need to carry heavy, clunky equipment,” said Mr. Myoung Sup Han, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics. “The NX200 is the next step in providing the ambitious photographer with first-class picture quality through the combination of professional-standard features such as a 20.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, high speed capture, wide-range ISO and HD movie capabilities. With technology like this built into a stylish and compact body, the NX200 is the ultimate tool for achieving professional quality in a compact camera. The NX200 represents Samsung’s continued commitment to lead the way in producing cutting-edge technology that fits the needs and knowledge of the consumer, proving photography does not need to be complicated in order to deliver great results every time.”

Effortless creativity
One of the key ways in which Samsung’s NX200 stands out is by making it easy for users to realize their own creativity through a range of fun and easy-to-use features and settings. The camera features ten different Smart Filter effects, six of which can be easily accessed through the i-Function lens, allowing the user to capture a uniquely creative image of their subject without having to take their eye off it to change the filter. The new NX200 also includes Magic Frame technology, which enables the user to encapsulate their pictures with thirteen different stylized frames, from magazine covers to holiday themes for fun photos to share with family and friends.

Professional standards made simple
With its Smart Panel user interface, the NX200 makes taking pictures simple and fuss-free, even for first-time users. The high-quality images captured can be viewed in brilliant quality on the 3.0” VGA AMOLED display. The camera’s Smart Panel also offers intuitive control thanks to hot keys that enable users to switch to key functions without the need to scroll through confusing menus to get to the desired shot.

Expanding horizons
The NX200 enables users to capture even more from their experiences by using exciting new features and cutting-edge Samsung technology. The new Panorama function means that users can take lengthened shots of large objects or turn the image into a 3D scene, bringing the object to life. To capture even more of the moment for posterity, Samsung has also added the Sound Picture function to the NX200, so that a snippet of sound can be recorded to accompany a still image to add even more memories to a photograph.

Capital Online Revenue Introduces Innovate Business Education Techniques

As an alternative to more traditional methods of learning about business and commerce, Capital Online Revenue introduces a new “earn and learn” training program.

Though business colleges remain in great supply, more and more Americans are turning to alternative sources of training and education, particularly during these days of economic upset and uncertainty. The simple truth is that with layoffs so prevalent and incomes so unsteady, investing in a full-time business education simply isn’t a viable option for many entrepreneurs. Instead, they are looking to business training modules that allow for on-the-job training, providing a way to master the tools of the trade even while making a profit. Capital Online Revenue continues to spearhead this movement with the introduction of its new “earn-and-learn” business training techniques.

Different from both traditional business education courses and even other online endeavors, Capital Online Revenue is a service that extends to customers a wealth of resources for learning about online business. What makes Capital Online Revenue services unique, however, is the fact that its training techniques are implemented in real-time. In other words, customers are both learning about online business and establishing their own online business both at the same time.

Though the notion of a make-money-online opportunity is hardly new, the methods being introduced by Capital Online Revenue are unlike anything yet devised by its competitors. What makes this service different is the emphasis it places on its training aspects. Though the long-term goal is for customers to establish their own online business, this comes hand-in-hand with an array of training resources and materials that include not only tutorial videos, but also a unique training component that includes one-on-one coaching from a team of live experts. Capital Online Revenue extends these services through a variety of media, including online chat, e-mail, and phone.

Capital Online Revenue introduction of these features has already met with enthusiasm from its current customer base. The service continues to define its niche, appealing to retirees, stay-at-home-parents, and working professionals who simply lack the time or resources necessary to attend more conventional business classes.
